Final Task

Final Name Change

Hello, blog. I indicated in my most recent blog that I was completing the editing for our movie. I wanted our produced and directed title slides to appear in the movie, so I embedded them. I began by writing the directed by title on the exterior of my building in the first frame. The difficult thing was not learning how to embed text. Finding frames where to insert the text and have it appear to be a part of the video without the camera moving and the text moving with it was difficult. It was the only factor that determined where I placed the credits. The movie also has sound, which I added. You might remember that in a previous blog I asked Universal Music for permission to use the song "Love Fools"; following their initial email, UMC never responded. That was certainly unfortunate. It would have been fantastic to incorporate such a classic into our movie. Thankfully, we switched to the royalty-free music from our backup plan. To do this, I went to YouTube and typed in "

Almost Done!

Hello there, and welcome back again for what is almost the last time of this school year. My group and I are constructively working through the days with editing on the film without stopping. It has been a rough couple of weeks because the end of the school year is approaching and a lot of work is getting thrown onto all of us just 2 weeks before our tests. Something tells me next week will be even more of a crunch. I don't see the workload coming to a stop until after we complete our AICE exams and I will say, this quarter of the school year has really been doing it for me. Anywho, our editing is working its way up there, for example we added a color gradient to give the film a romantic vibe. Only taking steps closer to the end of this stressful task it has turned into. It has been so hard for me personally to balance everything out. I'm not sure how my group mates feel, but I really have been struggling and I also just started my first day of work today. I didn't get home

Music Clearance

To start off this blog, we still haven’t received an answer from Universal. We have been waiting to see if we are allowed to use their music or not. However, we do have a quick backup plan incase this one doesn’t work. In the case that we are not given clearance, we have decided that we will use non-copyrighted music straight from youtube. My group and I would also make sure that the music matches the genre of the short film for it to connect smoothly. Besides the music, we have continued to do lots of editing. We have added the music even though we are still waiting for clearance, we made the necessary cuts, and have brought our film down from 2:41 to 2 minutes. This was a very important part of the film and for a moment we forgot if we needed the film to be 2 or 3 minutes. Silly us, but luckily we got that taken care of! Anyways, the point is that editing is going smoothly for us and we are not stressing about it. I am seeing some other groups stressing because they still haven’t e

Need Permission

We’re getting closer to being done everyday. Now we need to get permission from the music production company to be able to use their song. My group mate Elton send an email to their production company. He kindly asked for permission for us so we can use the music of Universal Music Group(UMG). They are the copyright owners of the song and this is supposed to be quite a hard task. Gladly, we ended up receiving an email reply back from them. They stated that they were going to look over the request we had and get back to us soon. We were happy with being able to get in contact with them. However we know that this isn’t it. There’s more tasks to do and we still have to wait for a valid response allowing us to use their music. As a refresher, we want to use the song Lovefools by The Cardigans. It will go well with our video concept. The love music would match perfectly with the idea of love in our video. Using copyrighted songs is a big deal, so we need to make make sure we don’t have the
