Project Blog

I think my group and I did a great job with this commercial. It seems to have turned out pretty well for this being the first project I have done in this Media class. Overall as a group, we also did well with time management and each of us taking care of what we were supposed to in the way that all the work was split. I still believe we could have done some better editing, but we will be on the road to improvement for our next project! Regardless, I am pleased with what I did for my parts in the commercial and very glad that everything went smoothly. Any-who, don’t forget to treat yourself to a nice pack of Twizzlers! -Sarah

Creative Critical Reflection

  1.  How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? I think our commercial challenged conventions a lot. Several Twizzlers commercials incorporate a lot of colors and happiness, whereas ours was a lot more romantic. It was pretty serious as well and a happy moment was still included, it just wasn’t as bouncy and exciting as other Twizzlers commercials that I have seen. The commercial represents social groups in the sense of it helps to make comparisons between other brands causing them to interact and come up with more ideas.           2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? Our product advertisement engaged with audience because we were inspired by the movie “The Lady and the Tramp” which is an older animated movie that used to and still is watched often. This helps with the idea of foreplay and the audience most likely having an idea of what’s gonna happen in order in

Final touches, coming to an end!

After the commercial for the project was filmed, I took all the clips and put them together in the iMovie app. I took the time to watch some editing tutorials for iMovie to give myself some different ideas on how to edit. I then shared the videos with my group as an aid to make everyone's final pieces orderly. Each member made sure to view all the tutorial YouTube videos, because it helped in every aspect of our editing. I feel as though my task was one of the easiest in the editing proportion out of everyone else's in my group. I made sure every one of the clips were in order in settlement to the backup plan for the commercial. We had filmed about five clips that followed the storyboard we created before shooting our scenes. I then gave the phone to Michaela so that she could do her part in editing. She made all the cuts needed to be within the time frame of 30 seconds. Luckily there were enough parts to have over 30 seconds filmed, however there were enough filler parts to cu

Filming officially complete!

On Sunday evening, we all got together and finally put our commercial together. Michaela came to help with the filming while Sabrina, Lola, and I were the ones being recorded. I ended up bringing a couple chairs and a white table cloth to set up the scenery. Lola had other necessary props such as the table, and she went to the store to buy the actual Twizzlers as well. Sabrina also brought a hot glue gun for the use of gluing Twizzlers together to make it one long one for the last scene. Unfortunately, we ended up having to use our backup plan, but it still worked in our favor. Lola's sister and her friend were unable to show up for the filming process. They had practice for their sport and couldn't make it to be a part of the commercial. In this case, we had Lola and one of our friends, Nate, do the last scene from the inspiration of Lady and the Tramp. We also were unable to film at the beach as we planned, because it was a rainy day and the weather conditions did not allow u

Tough week with no filming progress made... yet

My group has yet to have been able to get together and record our commercial. We have all had different things going on that have prevented us from meeting up. To begin, we had the hurricane come near to our direction and school was out for 2 days which already made it harder for us to see each other, let alone meet out of school. During that week, I was also sick and caught a virus, which led me to lose my voice on the weekend. I was unable to talk and it was truly annoying, but also painful at the same time. The next week came along and all of our group members including me, have things to do after school. Each of us is either at our extracurricular such as sports practice/games or we have to go to work. This means we do not all have the time to meetup on weekdays because of how busy we all are after school hours. On Wednesday we had school for the holiday of Yom Kippur. I don't celebrate it, however I was unavailable because I had to see a friend for another project that was due

Our design put together!

Image
First Scene: During this scene we will show the setting and then be filming the waiter laying out a white tablecloth on a table on the beach. This shot will be a wide shot of the set-up and a medium shot of the subject. Second Scene: The next scene we wanted to include in this commercial is when another two subjects take a seat at a set table. The location for this scene is on the beach because we wanted to set a romantic ambiance. These people will be wearing fancier type clothing to help enhance the romance. The shot we will be using in this scene is a long shot with a low angle. Third Scene: In the third scene the waiter lights a candle on the table. This will be a close-up on the candle being lit on the table. Fourth Scene: The fourth scene for our commercial is the waiter placing a plate of food down on the table and uncovering a plate of "spaghetti" which is actually just Twizzlers. This angle will be a wide shot at a high angle. Fifth Scene: The fifth scene in our comm

One of our actors will be dressed as a waiter, wearing a n all-black outfit. The other two subjects will be dressed in formal attire for a fancy, romantic dinner. This can include a dress for the girl and a nice dress shirt and pants for the man. If we cannot acquire to getting our subjects to dress formally, we will adapt to their casual attire for our commercial and continue everything else as planned.        Schedule:    On 9/27/22: Our group researched similar candy commercials and created our own spin to these idea .    On 9/30/22: Our group decided on roles , props , locations, and a schedule for our commercials and then we started typing out our ideas for the plannin

My group is doing a Twizzlers commercial. In these commercials people are usually trying to keep a straight face while being teased my a twizzler.  . In these commercials all the people are usually wearing colorful/casual clothes. However, the costumes are not usually shown very much because of the angles used.  . Props include twizzlers, a glass of water and anything used to make the commercial more comical. . The appearance of the actors are usually fun and exciting looks on their faces and most of the time laughing or messing around.  . The sound in these commercials is an a airy/catchy sound to lighten the mood and make it appear to be more fun.  1. Conventions and Codes in Twizzler commercials include the twizzler logo of the twizzler turning from a frown to a smile with a “You Can’t Be Serious” with Twizzlers slogan. This slogan and little movement of the Twizzler  helps create a sense of humor and gives the audience a reason to remember and buy the candy. 2. In the commercial th
