1. How do your  products  represent social groups or issues? Together, my group and I made a short film about a young girl who gets stalked and abducted. It is meant to be a reflection on the larger social issue of gender-based violence and the widespread anxiety it causes in women. In the video we emphasize the vulnerability that many women encounter on a daily basis, especially while partaking in seemingly harmless hobbies like running, through the protagonist's terrifying experience. In our film, the male stalker, portrayed by me, stands in for the stereotypical predatory male, highlighting the risks associated with toxic masculinity and the objectification of women. Through a realistic and sympathetic portrayal of the protagonist's suffering, the film seeks to provoke thought and increase awareness of the pressing need for societal reform to address these challenges. The film's website and postcard offer further channels for interaction by informing viewers about the fi

Officially completed our final task: Time to reflect

Image
Hello again and for the last time! I am super thrilled to make the announcement that the final task is officially completed. The website, postcard, and short film are all finished and look fantastic. I could not have been any happier with how things turned out. I think it’s crazy to look back at the fact that this journey started all the way back in AS media. Working with my group has been a blast and now it’s almost over. It all was amazing with filming and being able to goof around with my group during work sessions and meetups. It will definitely be one of the main things I’ll miss. Each member in our group had their own separate task. This made it easy for all of us to equally stay on top of the project in our own different ways. Overall, it made the work go very smoothly and I’m satisfied with my groups hard work and dedication. I had lots of fun in this class from the moment I joined. I would 100% recommend to someone whether they’re already in AS media or if they are not in medi

Final touches

Image
I know I haven’t given much attention to the post card and website as I have with filming lately. However, they have been simmering in the background as my group has been doing all their work accordingly. The postcard is almost ready to go. Just waiting on Brayden to add the final touches now. Once that is completed, it will be the first piece ready to post on our final project blog. Next up is the website which I have steadily been working on it day by day. My group and I have been taking notes and making sure all the information we retain through the project can be incorporated into the website. Just a few more things I need to fix up and that will be ready as well. The social media links are also ready which is one of the last things I need to add to the website. I did the Instagram page and Brayden set up the twitter page. Once they are attached to the website, everything will be fully completed. Brayden, Elton, and I have been working hard everyday for everything to come together.

Filmed with overtime!

We believed we had everything worked out as we got deeper into the film's editing phase. Even though we carefully edited our film to make sure we didn't go over budget, we were shocked to see that we still had an incredible 13 minutes of material. It was quite the task to trim it down, especially with so many filler films showing ordinary things like hair and teeth brushing. We overcame several challenges to complete the editing process because we were committed to realizing our goal. We were getting closer to the finish line every day, and the excitement increased as time went on. The idea of finishing this project was becoming more and more thrilling, especially because the SAT and AICE examinations in April and May were quickly approaching. We made slow progress towards the final cut, refining every clip and polishing every transition. Our resolve was strengthened by the gratification of witnessing our labors translate into a well-written narrative. We took great care in ch

Editing is now going smoother than before

Every choice we make during the 5-minute film's editing process is informed by the ideas of mise en scène and C.L.A.M.P.S. media terminologies. By placing performers, setting the tone, and arranging accessories, mise en scène enables us to craft a scene so that each frame successfully delivers our tale. Camera angles, lighting, audio, mise en scène, performance, and special effects are just a few of the C.L.A.M.P.S. media terms that enhance our editing process and give our images more nuance and significance. Our film is evolving with every cut, every component well thought out to provide a seamless and captivating story. Our audience's emotions are elicited and the proper mood is established with the aid of lighting, costuming, and set design. Furthermore, movement and camera angles improve the narrative by placing viewers at the center of the action.Excitement is in the air as the editing process approaches its conclusion. Our efforts are clearly paying off since the movie c

Officially done…With filming

I'm happy to inform that my group and I have finally finished filming our final video project, and the results are nothing short of stunning after weeks of hard work and commitment. This trip, while had its share of difficulties and learning curves, ended with a victory that well above our expectations. This time around, unlike the first time we filmed, everything appeared to go together perfectly. Equipped with a well-defined vision and an astute sense of direction, we skillfully and confidently maneuvered through the filming process. Simplifying our method of filming was one of the biggest changes we made. We had a well thought-out plan in place, so we knew exactly what kind of material and photos we would need to make our story come to life. With so much less time spent filming because to this newfound clarity, we were able to concentrate on capturing true and emotionally charged moments. Even though we were filming at the same park as before, we took a "less is more"
